Capac is a village of about 2,000 residents in western St. Clair County. In the past 20 years, Capac has grown from a small farming community to a thriving business and residential area. The district's buses transport more than 1,400 students from their homes to school every day. The school system is the hub of many activities in this peaceful community. The May Newsletter is here. See who the top ten academic achievers are in the Class 0f 2012 . Lots of accomplishments are featured for robotics, band, vocal music, BPA, Mock Trial and sports. May Newsletter It has been exciting year and we are very proud of our students for their academics, class and club activitites, sports, and community service projects.
8th Grade Transition Day Planned
Mark your calendars! On Tuesday, May 29th, we will be taking the 8th grade to the high school for a half day of transition activities. Half of the grade will attend a morning session, and the other half an afternoon session. Students will be introduced to some of the high school staff and then be broken up into smaller groups for activities.
Capac High School Band Receives 1st Divisionat State MSBOA Festival
On Friday evening, May 4th, the Capac High School Band traveled to Port Huron Northern High School for the MSBOA State Band and Orchestra Festival. For those of you who are not familiar with this event, it's the Super Bowl for high school band.
The students worked very hard and it paid off! They received a First Division rating from the judges. This is the highest rating you can receive at the event. Their performance was the best they've ever given. This is another amazing feather in Capac Community School's cap.

Girls Softball Team Wins Caro Tournament
Our girls softball team won the Caro invitational May 5th. They beat Caro and then Bay City John Glenn in the finals. Congratulations to our varsity team and our coaches. If you see a varsity softball player tell them congratulations on this tournament victory.

Schools of Choice Deadline July 30, 2012
Students residing in a public school district that is a part of the St. Clair County RESA, or in a public school district contiguous to the Capac School District boundaries, or in a public school district which is part of any intermediate school district that is contiguous to the St. Clair County RESA boundaries may apply to attend school in the Capac School District.
Applications for the 1st semester of 2012-2013 schools of choice transfers will be accepted through July 30, 2012, 4 p.m. Applications are available at Capac Community Schools Central Office, 403 North Glassford Street, Capac, or by calling 810/395-3705.
The Capac School District is now taking applications for the following buildings and grade levels: Capac Elementary School Grades K-4 Capac Middle School Grades 5-7 Capac High School Grades 8-12 Crossroads (Alternative) Grades 9-12
NOTE: Students do not need to reapply for admission to the same choice school each year once approved for transfer. It is no longer necessary to reapply when a student changes buildings (elementary to middle, middle to high) within the same district.

LEGOS WANTED
Do you have any unused Legos no longer being used by your children that you would like to donate? The Capac Junior First Lego League at Capac Elementary would love to utilize them in their program. They can use any size or color. Please contact Janet Sonner at 395-3705 and she will contact the Advisor Kathy Lentz to arrange for pick up or just bring them into the superintendent's office and we will notify the advisor to pick them up here.

Capac Schools Offers School Closing Alerts Via Text
Capac Community Schools will soon have the capability of sending out text alerts directly to active subscribers only. The district plans to mainly use this to notify you of school closings in order to supplement our current method of having it announced on television and radio stations. It may also be used to provide you with reminders of school events such as conferences, school breaks, etc.
To receive Capac Schools' text broadcasts, you must subscribe.
1. Open a new message in your texting application. 2. Put this number in the "To" line: 368266 3. Send this message: app313 ChiefAlerts
(Note: Be sure to leave the space between app313 and ChiefAlerts and no space between Chief and Alerts.)
Once you do this, you will receive a text asking if you want to subscribe. Send a "yes" message back and the process is complete. If you ever want to opt out, you can do that with every text we send. Your text messages will come from APP313.COM so you may want to name the contact Capac Schools or Chief Alerts for your personal reference.
